Workshop "Learn about the mysteries of genetics with silkworms!"

When we hear about silkworms, the creatures that produce silk, we tend to imagine their bodies and cocoons as pure white, but in fact, there are many different types of silkworms, with different body colors and patterns, cocoon colors, and sizes. The differences in the characteristics of these silkworms and cocoons are determined by genetics. Silkworms were the first animals in which it was proven that Mendel's law, a law of genetics, applies, and they have been deeply involved with genetics for a long time.
In this workshop, you will actually observe the patterns and leg colors of silkworm larvae, learn that the physical characteristics of each individual silkworm vary, and learn how these characteristics change through genetics.
